Details on tax credit for homebuyers

Could you use an extra $8,000?  Well, the federal government is offering another chance for potential homeowners to take advantage of a special tax credit.  President Obama signed the housing tax credit extension into law. It extends the existing housing tax credit until April 30, 2010.  In our Fact Finder report we have the details.  The original credit was set up as a no-interest loan back in 2008.  This year, the full tax credit was created as part of the stimulus package for “first-time” buyers only.  The new law extends the credit to existing home owners as well.

Steven Sorhus, a staff accountant with Hardin-Cummins-Moss-Miller Public Accountants in Kirksville says when someone gets the tax credit, they can help stimulate our local economy.
