Habitat for Humanity home ‘blessed’ in Granville
A mother of two who helps people for a living and took in three other children and lived in undesirable living quarters in the past year will be moving in over the Christmas holiday to the 11th home built by Habitat for Humanity of La Salle, Bureau and Putnam Counties.
Saturday morning, 40 volunteers and Habitat officers listened as Sarah Mae Baker, currently of Princeton, sang praises — literally — to them and God during a house blessing in Granville for her new home. Baker teaches and works as a direct support professional for 28 residents, or clients, at Gateway Services in Princeton, but issues, such as not receiving child support payments that should have been paid, she until now was unable to afford buying a house.
