September saw home sales climb to a volume more than four times greater than the volume seen in February, and that’s bringing back something that’s been missing for months.

All along the mountain landscape they had all but vanished during the recession, but in recent weeks the open house sign has made a comeback, and real estate agent Jo Laird says that’s a sign, in itself, that the once scary housing market looks to be getting better.

“People were not showing up so realtors were not doing open houses, but now we actually feel people are coming back and ready to buy again,” said Laird.
