House votes to expand veterans’ home loan program

Thousands of additional Oregon veterans would qualify for a state home loan program under a ballot proposal approved in the House today.

The House voted unanimously for House Joint Resolution 7 which refers to voters a measure to make home loans from the Oregon War Veterans’ Fund available to all military veterans, not just those who went to war.

“It is quite simply the right thing to do,” said Rep. Jean Cowan, D-Newport. “A veteran is a veteran is a veteran.”
