Pending home real estate transactions č deals that have been initiated but not yet closed č have been on the rise for nine months as of October, the longest prolonged rise in the index since it began in 2001, the National Association of Realtors announced today.

The association’s Pending Home Sales index, a housing sector leading indicator, had a one-month 3.7 percent increase in October to 114.1, which was 32 percent above pending sales in October 2008. The 114.1 level is its highest point since 115.2, reached in March 2006.
