Survey: HST impacting home buying decisions
The HST hasn’t even been implemented but it’s already having an impact on home buying decisions, according to a new Ipsos-Reid survey. Four out of ten British Columbians believe the incoming tax will have an impact, and the survey also shows almost half of those people looking to buy a new place are going to hold off until they see how the tax is going to affect the market.
The poll also suggests the incoming HST is a big concern for people looking at purchasing a new place…but home owners are becoming more optimistic about where home prices are going, with more than half of us thinking prices are on the way up–up to 5 per cent higher. That’s a change from only a few months ago when most of us figured prices were heading south.
